The Scatter, the cat holding up the gem under the word ARK!, has landed on the fifth reel — one of the three needed to open the free spins.
Game rules, page 1The top of the paytable, quoted in coins rather than in FUN like the rest of the panel: the Wild pays 500 for five, 250 for four and 25 for three, and the pink gem matches it exactly. Then come the Bastet mask at 400, the amulet at 300 and the hat at 200 for five. The Scatter only pays 1 whatever the count: its job lies elsewhere — three of them on reels 1, 3 and 5 give 5 free spins, and a giant Scatter during the round adds 3 more, with no cap on the retriggers.

The Wild substitutes for everything except the Scatter and the coin, three Scatters on reels 1, 3 and 5 give 5 free spins that retrigger without limit, and the Blazing reels gain a detail the illustration did not give: the giant symbol counts as 9 ordinary symbols and pays as if 9 symbols had appeared on the reels.

Symbols pay left to right on consecutive reels of an active line, only the highest win counts on each line, and the Scatter is the exception: it pays wherever it lands, worked out on the total bet rather than the per-line bet.
